As soon as you cross over the bridge onto St. George, you will be impressed by this beautiful, historic island. This is where, on July 17, 1776, Maryland made her first stand repelling the British initial attempt to land on our shores in pursuit of the capital. On this island, with the same rugged determination, the legendary Evans Seafood Restaurant was established by Robert “Bugs” Evans in 1962. After serving the Maryland and Virginia area for 42 years, storm floods and fire retired the original Evans to fond memories. Chuck Kimball, a local waterfront developer, bought this beautiful piece of land and built a new 140 seat waterfront bar and restaurant on the firm foundations of the Evans reputation for hospitality and good food.

The new 28 room lodge adjacent to Evans creates a truly magnificent Island getaway experience. All rooms and suites are waterfront with views of spectacular sunrises over St. George Creek or sunsets over the Potomac river.

Awaken to the sounds of waterman harvesting their bounty and gentle water sounds inviting you to come and play. River Creek Lodge and Evans Restaurant on St. George Island will become your “necessary indulgence” time and again.
